Scan Barcodes for Sustainability Insights
SiegelBlick is an Android application designed to help users assess the sustainability certifications of food products by scanning their barcodes. Utilizing the Open Food Facts database, the app provides information about various sustainability seals, such as Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade, and more. Users can easily hold a barcode in front of their camera, and the app will retrieve relevant certification details without offering subjective evaluations or recommendations.
With a focus on privacy, SiegelBlick does not require user accounts or track personal data. Users can report missing seals directly through the app, optionally including up to three photos of the product packaging. The app operates independently from the organizations behind the seals and adheres to strict data protection measures, ensuring that scanned images and personal information remain on the user's device.
